Preexisting Material
text, 2-D artwork, 1) Excluding statements, claims, ideas, and text (quotes) by other authors and cited as sources in the proposal. 2) Excluding works by other authors cited in the proposal as inspiration and potential springboards for collaboration, chiefly "Living in the Plastic Age" song by the Buggles (1980). Song title, lyrics, and accompanying ideas/verbiage that inspired my original proposed film are all excluded. Song lyrics and title are directly referenced or quoted in some places (like the proposal title and the artwork showing the "heart police" jacket design; in that case, I only claim the artwork). 3) I do claim the original story as my own, with one small exclusion: there are a few events mainly in the black-and-white portion of the proposed film that depict events described in the song lyrics. My claim is limited only to original images that do not intersect the song lyrics in such a way that they would be recognizable as derived from the music (this would only be a small number of plot events, however). The entire proposal is intended as the expressed desire for a collaborative project, so the composers are being made aware of the idea and potential permissions are currently being sought. 4) Exclusion on the likenesses of President Nixon and the Presidential Seal (although the drawings are original). 5) Excluding portrait likenesses of Trevor Horn as used in the Nixon picture and "Not Enough" (Horn was simply a convenient model until I designed my own character, Lenny). I claim only the composition and new ideas in these drawings. 6) Exclusion of previously submitted work: text of the proposal and artworks (Nixon and Dollar Mouse sketches). 7) Name of main character, Lenny, is a reference to another Buggles song of the same title. Excluding the song
